This is what gets me - the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd people in the line of succession were in the Capitol when this all went down. Add in the president and SCOTUS, and you have a SOTU, which is one of the most heavily secured events in the US every year, period.

Yet there seems to have
Been no plan for what we all knew was going to happen. Let's be straight here - if you and I knew, then Capitol police knew.

Think about how the White House was secured during the BLM protests this summer. How far the perimeter was set, how high the fence, how quickly it was all
Set up when protests happened spontaneously.

None of that occurred here, when this riot was planned for months... Literally months... Prior to the day it happened.

Someone somewhere made the decision to allow this to happen.

Bengazi, which left four Americans dead
At the hands of non-Americans on foreign soil, was treated like an absolute travesty and unbearable scandal by the right. And while every American death, especially those that lose their lives serving their country, is sad, the level of effort that was put into investigating was
Purely political in nature and surely outsized for what had happened.

On January 6, five Americans died on American soil at the hands of or due to the actions of other Americans.

The attackers were seemingly allowed to storm our Capitol building. They had intimate knowledge
Of the layout of the building. They were within sight of members of Congress. Members staffers and their families hid in offices while people tried to break down doors to get them. The mob was screaming they were going to hang the Vice President of the United States.
A noose was set up outside. They had zip ties ready to apprehend people they perceived as their enemies. Bombs were found on site.

All of it instigated and encouraged by the President.

There should be investigations on top of investigations. Endless hearings.

And jail time.
Several of the insurrectionists managed to kill themselves, and I'm sorry to their families for that. But Brian Sicknick and his family deserve justice. Every decision that lead to his death, which came not while he was fighting in uniform for his country in Iraq, but
While he was protecting some of the most important leaders in our country, should be scrutinized and any wrongdoing should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We, the people, must demand this. No forgiving any of this in the name of unity. We can heal this country
And also hold the people that allowed this attack on our country to happen.

We cannot lose sight of just how much of a security failure Wednesday was, and it wasn't an accident.

Hold their feet to the fire.
