(THREAD) Traditional Republicans need to tell #MAGArepublicans THEY WERE LIED TO. It's extremely dangerous to have a large part of your party wrongly believe the election stolen from their hero, Trump. Your silence about his lies was never right. Today it endangers the U.S. /1

There would have probably been assassinations at the Capitol if lawmakers hadn't been able to scramble away from the #MAGArepublican rioters. Traditional Republicans need to weed these people out of their party. And what are they waiting for?! The next time could be today. /2

The nation is still in grave danger from #MAGArepublicans who would destroy our gov't & replace it with an autocratic or anarchist cult loyal only to Trump. Traditional Republicans are still mostly silent, as these insurrectionists & random lunatics fester within their party. /3

Only traditional Republicans can convince a significant number of #MAGArepublicans they were lied to when Trump, the leader of your party, told them the election was stolen. But not trying will only cause @GOP more damage over the yrs, as these unhinged lunatics create havoc. /4

And some are giving @MittRomney a lot of credit for speaking up. He only deserves a little.

He and others in the @GOP should be doing a press conference EVERY DAY to try to bring GOP sanity back. If this drives MAGArepublicans out of their party, that's good for everyone. /5

A weak effort by Traditional Republicans to educate the #MAGArepublicans about the lies Trump told them won't help.

Many #MAGArepublicans believe that what's real is fake, and what's fake is real.

Only traditional Republicans have a chance of bringing some of them back to sanity. Not to do so will only create more chaos in the @GOP as the two wings argue with each other about basic facts. /7

The duty of sane people like @SenatorCollins and @lisamurkowski is to tell the #MAGArepublicans the truth.

#MAGArepublicans have been lied to by Trump for about five years, especially about the election results. /8

Traditional Republicans can't just release a few memos. You need to hold press conferences that include prominent members of your party, telling #MAGArepublicans they were lied to. @GOP governors need to do the same, as violent MAGA lunatics have threatened state-based crimes. /9

The MAGA/Republican monster Trump created for traditional Republicans didn't happen overnight.

The @GOP pandered for years to the least intelligent & most racist elements of society, telling them, among other destructive lies,... /10

… that repeated corporate tax cuts would help them financially.
