they unfurled a ceiling-sized flag, which hung over us like a banner. Servicemen walked down in uniform during the prelude. The sermon was on the blessing of America and pulled in quotes from Founding Father, politicians, whatever. I’m sure there was talk of the liberals...
who would ruin our country if we let them.

This was a big Sunday in my church, one with a great deal of pomp and circumstance. And though they were genuine (and most are genuinely good people), it was this mix of God and Country that’s been exploited by the current warmongers.
I am Catholic now, and I love the faith more than just about anything. I’m not here to bag on Christians. But it’s time to call this vein of Christianity what it is: Syncretized idolatry.

It might have started innocently, but we see the fruit now. It’s dangerous.
Be wary of those who ask us to die for a political idea, for they shall inherit no country.

Be wary of those who lock arms with terrorists in the name of God, for they shall see the Devil’s face.

Be wary of those whose banner is anything but Christ, their reward is violence.
