Today I learned Mr. Charlie Davis was the exercise rider for Secretariat.

He was born on Feb. 2, 1940, in Orangeburg, S.C.

Incase you didn’t know, American horse racing, especially the Kentucky derby, was once dominated by Black men.
“He give me a vibe,” Davis adds. “Like your kid is talking to you – but it was a stronger vibe, like, ‘Hey, man, I’m the man, you just along for the ride.”

Mr. Davis had a real connection with Secretariat! Google the interviews.
Mr. Charlie Davis died in 2018. Just 5 days after his birthday. He had battled with lung cancer.

😔 Legends don’t come often and they don’t come easy.

My he Rest In Peace and forever be known as the man who made Secretariat!
