I'm a harm reductionist and believe that the harm reduction services in Glasgow are vital to the preservation of life, over the last 5 years I've had the privilege work and deliver harm reduction to people who use drugs in Glasgow City Centre and please believe me when I say that
Without the harm reduction services our death toll related to drug misuse would be excessively higher, I have witnessed countless overdoses being reversed with Naloxone, and without our needle exchange provisions in the city centre and the safer injecting advice given to people
Who inject drugs our HIV numbers would be disastrous for the NHS.
So please don't think too much money is wasted on harm reduction, because the the harms and deaths we would be seeing without it would be phenomenal. These are all my own personal opinions but I believe if you
Look at the numbers you'll find it difficult to disagree with me.
Reflecting on my own experiences throughout the years I can wholeheartedly say that harm reduction kept me alive but without being able to access Rehabilitation @Phoenix_Scot I would still be getting kept alive
Living in homeless accommodation somewhere in Glasgow or I would be dead, really no in-between. So the Morale of the story is yeah we need drug consumption rooms and yeah it would be nice if Drugs were decriminalised but if we don't have anywhere for people to get to a place
Where they can learn a new way of life then really whats the Point in any of the above.
