The site has ads up, they have a Patreon, and none of that cash goes to the people whose mental labor is the reason people actually visit the site. Nor can people control what ads get displayed next to their content.

So nope. I will not allow them to use my writing to make money for themselves.

If you want me to write something for your monetized site, you're gonna have to get with me and talk to me about how much money you're making and where it's going and what you feel would be fair compensation.
