Explaining Adama Traores "goal drought" in the past 2 seasons
Adama has received many critics as of late, due to his lack of goals. This "lack of goals" talk is brought up from his position, which is said to be Right Wing. And the current standard is for a right winger to score. This will be covered more in the thread.
Since the beginning of his Wolves premier league journey, Adama has made a combined total of 83 appearances throughout 3 seasons. In that time, Adama has got 15 G/A. Bare in mind that, in the 18/19 season he averaged 31 mins per game, 19/20 70 mins per game and 20/21 61 mins.
Looking at these figures, anyone who doesn't actually understand football would write him off as shit. But look into it deeper. Since joining wolves, he's been made to play various positions, RW, RWB, LW, LM.
This is a challenge itself, but what it also shows is the real reason adama isn't able to score. And it's a simple reason. His position limits him from going into the box. Attached is an image of Adama's 20/21 premier league heat map, which I'll explain more in the next part.
What the heat map shows, is how much work Adama is doing on the right hand side. He finds himself playing in the RM role more than RW, to help out in defence. His tackles per game are actually double that of his shots per game. So, let's look at the offensive side of things.
Attached, is how much adama has been able to get into the box this season. This area of the heat map is looking very cold. But What you have to take from this is, how is a player supposed to score without getting inside the box.
Well, he done it against palace, but, he only took a single touch inside the box to score. Players need to get inside the box to score or else they're forced to hit shots like this, which, more often than not, aren't going to go in.
Just to put that short, you need to put yourself into a good position to score, which adama can't because of where he is playing, helping out in midfield.
His offensive side is quality.

At the moment this season, he has a 72% on successful dribbles, which is better than a very large majority of premier league wingers this season. And believe it or not, he was best in the world.
Defensively, he helps his team out massively, winning 61% of ground duels and 57% in the air, with a total of 60% of duels being won, more than Conor Coady (52%), Roman Saïss (50%), Joao Moutinho (49%), Nelson Semedo (56%), Rayan Aït Nouri (41%) and Ruben Neves (50%)
Adamas techinal ability is by far one of the best in the league. Defenders can't stop him. There's 3 challenges when defending adama. First challenge is catching up to him, once you've done that, is stopping him, he's a tank. And if you've stopped him, don't let him get past you.
Also, a side note, he's been critisced for the use of lubricant on his arms, this isn't a method to make attacking easier, this is a method so that he isnt sidelined for months with a dislocated shoulder, as Adamas shoulder is very fragile.
That's all. In my opinion, Adama Traore is a fantastic player, but massively over criticised because of how his stats look.
