Thread:

1. The land and islands that we now call Scotland assumed its current extent in 1482. That means Scotland has been part of the UK longer than it was a separate Kingdom covering its current area.

1482-1707 = 225 yrs
1707-2021 = 314 yrs
2. Yet Scottish nationalists ask us to believe that Scotland is and always has been a country that covers its current area and couldn't possibly be broken down into smaller parts. Simultaneously they argue that the UK is not a country, it’s just a collection of nations apparently
3. They obviously missed a few history lessons and aren't aware that Scotland itself used to be formed of multiple separate Kingdoms or that large parts of what is now Scotland used to be part of the Kingdom of Northumbria, including Edinburgh.
4. Scottish nationalists are wrong. The UK is a country. Great Britain and Northern Ireland are part of it. If the UK can be partitioned as they desire then so too could Scotland. They need to think about the immense damage their wishes would do to our country & its people. ENDS
