Some impressive bike infra going in all over Sheffield 🚲

Reasonable desire lines and clear distinction between road (⚫️), bike track (🔴), and footpath (⚪️)

Will post more pics soon, as this is 1st class stuff for the UK (normal in Netherlands, I know!)
Before ↔️ After

The previous one-way system was shrunk to use 1/4 of the space, freeing up space for benches, wider footpaths, bike tracks and gardens to avoid flooding.

Look around on Street view in 2018 and 2020 to see a huge difference https://www.google.com/maps/@53.3851507,-1.461469,3a,75y,18.56h,90t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1skJY-ebAt3yKKBpbP31jxHA!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo2.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DkJY-ebAt3yKKBpbP31jxHA%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D11.321134%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192
There is a garage on the other side of this road that requires access.

The red brickwork makes it clear to the majority 'this is for bikes only', but the signage allows permitted vehicles up to the garage. Bollards stop through-traffic.

Elegant design means no confusion.
Bus stop bypass just off a busy A road in Sheffield. Lots of space to wait for the bus. No conflict when a bus pulls in, as bikes continue around the back.

All this is possible to do well when first reducing the # of motor traffic lanes.
Road crossings:

Good line of sight for both parties. Clear priority. Raised to slow motor vehicles. No kerbs, bumps, gates, or fences.

Could easily be switched to bike and pedestrian priority if necessary in future, but so far this seems to strikes a good balance.
There was previously no legal way to get between the foreground street and background street by bike without dismounting, or going a very long way round

Small connecting tracks like this make a huge difference for making shopping by bike possible yet look so simple when in place
Flared junction for roads has been shrunk into a small roundabout where one arm now leads to a bike track (before/after). Much more efficient use of public space.

Access for motor vehicles retained to all properties (note no bollard in bike track here, to permit this)
