I am struck that the likes of @ClarkeMicah and @JuliaHB1 still want more of us to die for "freedom" (even when we now have vaccines). Peter used to say that lockdowns don't work, showing a basic ignorance of how viruses are transmitted & is easily disproved by a simple graph 1/4
Then there are non Covid deaths. It is a bizzare lack of logical thought from intelligent people to think that if hospitals were even fuller of Covid patients that somehow there would be more room for non Covid patients. Hospitals are beds AND staff 2/4
And then the economy. Yes the economy suffers, but it is naive in the extreme to think everyone would be going about their normal business if 2,000, 3,000+ a day were dying. (Mortality rates soar where health services cannot cope). Society would collapse as would the economy 3/4
Now the argument seems to be that test data is wrong. This ignores that cases, admissions and deaths are all up. To suggest otherwise would have us believe that a few libertarians supported by grifting "experts" know more than hundreds of people whose actual job it is to know 4/4
