In one school the head was insisting that all staff travel every day in order to teach online lessons from empty classrooms.

This is clearly in breach of government guidance that you should work from home if you can.

They were of course very willing to be in teaching key worker/vulnerable groups as necessary.

But they quite rightly didn’t believe that they should be filling up public transport every day.

The NEU began to survey over industrial action, using the confidence from the huge NEU meeting last weekend.

Quickly the council became involved and made clear that the staff were no longer required to travel to school if not physically needed.

If your headteacher is insisting that you are in school to teach online lessons from empty classrooms, know the NEU will support you.

Show your colleagues and the head this bit of government guidance.

If you can work from home you must work from home.
If you CAN keep your child at home you SHOULD keep your child at home.
