Soc Dem relied on global factors, the Cold War forced that battle ground on the global south trying to force people to pick a side.
Everything was a consequence of that struggle.

Trumpism is both a natural consequence and a symptom of the reaction to Thatcher-Reagan/Bush Blair attacks on social democracy.
Social Democracy however won’t be saved by liberal descendants of Blair/Clinton flavour.

They too are a product of a battle they lost and never realised that they did.
The return of the centre isn’t going to happen the way many seem to think or hope.

The best opportunity for a return to an even a form of Soc Dem is through a process of struggle where there is a substantial and organised radical movement from the extreme left.
A movement from the centre will still concede to the right. The comprise or consensus position will land right of centre.
That won’t address any of the big societal needs that face us, forcing us down a cyclical death trap.

That means rebuilding of mass sustainable organisations of emerging class groups, that are capable of engaging in struggle.
Thousands are doing this, day in day out. It’s already having a positive effect on its base, politicians and the social contract.

Through this process new generations of leaders and ideas will emerge that with shape the evolution of our socioeconomic systems going forward.
It is however going to be a rough fucking ride to get there, it’s a battle and a struggle, the only thing that’s scary is failure.
