See, I'm not even concerned with the power of tech companies in this instance.

Twitter was designed for people to interact. There is a segment of the Twitter user base which does not do this at all. For them, Twitter is an advertising platform.

A FREE advertising platform. https://twitter.com/glcarlstrom/status/1347810122563788800
If Twitter had no power as an ad delivery service for messages, Trump wouldn't care that he'd been banned.

He is outraged at the social media sector because they, simply put, have decided to no longer accept the advertising he's not paying for anyway.
And, to be completely blunt, nobody has ever expressed outrage over a company refusing to accept PAID advertising from anyone before.

So let's all just give this a rest, huh? This isn't about free speech. It's about free DISTRIBUTION.
If I ever owned a platform like this, there'd be a requirement that you post X number of non-reported replies to other people's posts in order to post yourself. And reporting would be at the discretion of the person to whom you're replying.

Contribute to the discussion or GTFO.
Because ultimately, that's the beef here. People who use a free service to pimp themselves, shitposting their crap and walking away without even paying attention to the response.
And really, if you don't care about the response... if you're not going to engage... why bother? Why should you even be ALLOWED to bother?
So, yeah. Twitter has chosen to no longer accept Trump's advertising. Big deal.
