Modi is not a dictator. Modi is not the problem. He is not a maniac who is doing everything he wills. He is the representative of a Hindu supremacist extremist ideology that believes in second class citizenship for Muslims.
He is just furthering their agenda.
2.
He has earned that place through the Gujrat model (of how to show Muslims their place) but someone will replace him. The fight is against this Nazi inspired supremacist ideology. To limit it to one person and think it's only him that has to be defeated is so naïve.
3.
As for Muslims, islamophobia, a word that is new to our vocabulary, but the prejudice has been deeply rooted in our system and society. Muslims have another fight altogether which involves a great deal of learning and unlearning. We have to hold on to our faith and identity.
4.
But let this be clear, we didn't vote RSS/BJP to power and we can not we vote them out. Everyone who puts the burden on Muslims cannot be our well wisher. It's impractical to think that a minority can put to end what the majority has started and even wants.
5.
The few from the majority who claim to be allies of Muslims should stop shouting slogans romanticising secularism while lecturing Muslims on how to be a good Muslim and start working in their own community. 'Deradicalise the Hindu' should be used as a slogan instead.
6.
The alliance is just a fraud if it doesn't recognize these very different tasks that both the communities have for justice and equality to prevail. You can continue to burden the Muslims shoulders with both but that simply means you don't really want to defeat Hindutva.
7.
Muslims have to reject these flawed expectations and burden of saving the 'idea of India' and organise at the community level.
Ps: If the 'idea of India' is pre 2014 India then there's not much of a different India for Muslims anyway.
