I want to share my thoughts on the Twitter exodus and censorship and let you know where I stand.

First, I'm not going anywhere.

My follower count can tank and they can suspend me, I suppose...but, for me, going gentle into that goodnight isn't an option...

I want to be clear I don't judge people who feel driven to leave. Everyone needs to do what's best for them. Some very high profile accounts are ppl who are very good friends & feel they have no choice.

I support them. Their livelihoods depend on visibility.

Mine does not.
I want to point out that it's not intellect, political alignment, nor anything so simple that has divided us this past year.

The line is drawn between those who value personal integrity & those who value reputation.

Between those who must go along & those who aren't so tempted
The ppl I know on this side of the fence have not had easy lives.

They learned that sometimes the only thing to do is stand up when everyone is sitting down

& maybe it's simply because no one has bothered to leave them an open chair

& they refuse to sit on the floor.
And for that reason, we share high tolerance for resisting consensus in the name of what is right

And that's where I stand: feet planted in the eye of a hurricane with the world chaotically swirling around me--no armor or protection--

Because being swept way is not an option.
So I will be here: Tweeting honestly, speaking out when things don't add up, sharing my knowledge/ideas & encouraging others to do the same

Twitter can turn my megaphone off & I will find a way to be heard

B/c when you speak the truth, someone will be always willing to listen
I do want to encourage you to disregard your follower counts...stay with me if you can. And it's okay if you can't.

But Dylan Thomas couldn't have said it better:

"Rage against the dying of the light."
