I researched this claim about Trudeau "rigging the next election in his favour". This claim arises from the Election Modernization Act passed by the Trudeau Liberals in 2018. The Act served to limit pre-election spending for all parties. See link. #CDNpoli https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/annualstatutes/2018_31/page-1.html
Yes, the Act limits pre-election spending for all parties *BUT* there is a glaring loop-hole in that government business continues and this business can involve spending announcements and all associated travel and press. That is why it was viewed as unfair. #CDNpoli
Is it "rigging the election" as the Scheer ad claims? Not really. The Act does, however, benefit the sitting government. In this case, that sitting government was the Liberals. This raises quite a few red flags. #CDNpoli
Generally speaking I think Scheer's ad was substantially correct. This ad was another way for the Trudeau Liberals to abuse their power in office to advantage themselves. He may have a killer smile but Trudeau isn't a good guy, folks. He doesn't warrant our trust. #CDNpoli
I'd also point out that the people losing their minds about Erin O'Toole on this ad should note it was an ad from the Andrew Scheer campaign that was lingering on the CPC website server--now deleted. If you are mad about this substantially true ad, you're mad at Scheer.
