Since we're all in need of unity, I'll share a vulnerable anecdote. When I got recalled to service in the Marine Corps in 2009, the only thing that kept me sane was listening to the #Reds on a radio in North Carolina late at night. Yes, @700wlw travels at night. #stillhere
I was struggling a lot to find some kind of purpose. I later found that during my deployment in Afghanistan, but those weeks sitting and waiting for something to do were awful. I've never felt more worthless in my life than just sitting in a shop waiting for orders.
Gun in my mouth at one point, realized how insane killing myself would be. Honestly kinda hoped I would die in Afghanistan. That never happened and now I'm lucky enough to deal with angry reader comments/angry fans. Love you all and I hope you love yourselves, too.
I'm now in the 20+ club of guys I served with/buddies of mine who died overseas but waited until they came home to make it official. I'm fortunate enough to have a family and an amazing 4-year-old reason every day to keep striving to be better.
