I do worry about what would happen if Twitter started banning other people besides Trump. It raises some real questions.

Would they come for me? What would I do with my spare time? How would I tell you all how happy and carefree I had suddenly become? It’s a real conundrum.
I am being glib, perhaps overly so. But I do think people are overreacting to an event that is likely smaller in effect than either side thinks.

Trump has not been silenced. He's the president. He has a multitude of methods available for speaking to the public.
As for the consequences of a mass Twitter crackdown on widely held political views: If that happened, it would render Twitter an ideological clubhouse, rather than the all-day-open-to-(most)-all politics chatroom it is now.
Finally, it's odd that after years of arguing that bakers shouldn't have to make wedding cakes for gay marriages because of sincerely held beliefs, a portion of the right is now arguing that Twitter and FB should have to offer services to Trump, despite sincerely held beliefs.
