I'm going to do a quick thread of Mike Solan's most egregious lies. These are just the ones we know of, there are many more suspected. The first on the list was his obscene claim that Charleena Lyles was the victim of "suicide by cop". https://twitter.com/spekulation/status/1283585289328357379?s=20

He went on local rightwing media to invite President Trump to send in the military to Seattle, repeating many of the same lies about protesters propagated by the Seattle Police Dept. https://twitter.com/spekulation/status/1285406979431657473?s=20
He frequently misrepresented a petition he was circulating, going on Fox News and other national outlets attempting to get a national audience to sign on against defunding our local police department. https://twitter.com/spekulation/status/1289426083889049601?s=20

In one of the ugliest moments of last year, he went on Fox News to falsely claim police had not been allowed access to a shooting victim. When a protest showed up outside the union headquarters, he gloated about blasting country music as dozens of officers violently brutalized the crowd, which included children doing chalk art. Like I said, this is the *short list* of lies told by this man... a person responsible, not just for negotiating the city's police contract, but also a sworn officer who is responsible for protecting and serving the people of this city. His words and actions are disqualifying.
Mike Solan must resign. The union, which overwhelmingly elected him, must be broken up, and the city should start fresh with a new contract not brokered by people who hold the people of this city with such blatant contempt.
(There are also plenty of suspicions that he was involved in the abandoning of the East Precinct, as well as the subsequent hoax in which SPD used their radios to fake an armed white-supremacist march coming to attack protesters)
