As a former Political consultant, I feel people are missing the big picture by focusing only on the insurrection event at the capital. Here is what I think happened, and why I think this is a far larger conspiracy at sedition that should be investigated and legally dealt with.
I think Trump set up a dual campaign strategy, First, try and win it in the traditional way, but with the wrinkle that he enlisted DeJoy to try to slow down the mail in vote. He did this knowing that D's would because of covid be more inclined to vote by mail. Then in order to
make sure his vote was not effected by the postal slow down, he did two things, he conditioned his supporters not to fear the virus, and encouraged them to vote in person. At the same time he planned a parallel strategy to try to steal the election through court battles, and
attempts to delay the certification of electors so that the contest would be pushed to the house. There, as the vote goes by state not congressional district, (Idaho has as many votes as California, Montana as many votes as NY) with R's controlling more states he could win
even though he lost the election. To accomplish that, he used law suits before the election to try and disenfranchise voters, and to limit mail in voting. And Law suits after the election to contest and try and throw out mail in votes. Part of his plan was to gain a lead on
election night, claim victory before mail in vote was counted, and if he couldn't stop the count of mail in vote he could claim it was rigged, fraud. (now this is one of the main goals of Russian intel, to make Americans doubt the honesty of their elections, I'm just saying)
(also remember in 2016 Assange sent Don jr. an email that urged Trump to claim the election was fraudulent in case he lost, something Russia had been after as a prime goal). Then Trump had lawyers lined up to contest the election at every stage, in the court room, in state
legislatures, even in some county and congressional certifications as in Michigan Wayne county. Trump hoped that the lawyers he had appointed to federal courts and the Supreme court would grant him an underserved and improper decision. Luckly they didn't. (that is an
understatement as they actually showed far more courage than higher level Republicans in US Senate. When all else failed he hoped to get the senate not to certify, when that failed he tried to get Pence to break the law. When that failed he did what he usually does, he sent
some thugs to intimidate the Congress and the Senate. Just like he did to Stormy Daniels, and like he did when he would dispatch Michael Cohen to threaten to sue journalists to stop a story. My point is, someone had to plan this, someone had to research it, someone had to
set up the calls, to pressure local officials. It was a well planned effort that went back months if not years. I would ad that the Pardons of his henchmen gave the mob the feeling that they could act without regard to consequences. In addition, Trump constantly threatened the
Republicans in the Senate holding the 2 Senate seats in GA as hostages. This was a well planned conspiracy to hold on to power even though one lost an election, it was sedition conspiracy, capped off with an insurrection when all else failed. DOJ should treat it as such.
