People say using Twitter is performative activism

so they can say it's harmless for a dictator to spread lies and propaganda.
Look at the damage he did -

and that could have been prevented

if he was never platformed. Just here.
The opposite is also true.

We have taken this megaphone and turned it into

community support
virtual rallies
an education system
group influence over current events
the leading barometer of what America has on its mind.
We

helped find kidnapped and lost kids,
provide and receive mutual aid,
launched artists, freelancers and writers careers,
coordinate patient advocates for people whose families are far away.
Can we finally stop saying bullshit like

"It's just Twitter"
"Online activism is slactivism"
"The internet is not part of the real world"
"It's just words"
Some people need social media apps to survive.

For group therapy.

To find the only other people in the country or world who have their same set of problems.
The things we do here matter.

The way @Twitter treats us matters.

All Big Tech not protecting us and the world from evil by giving it a platform, it matters.
