a lot of news going down right now but had to get this out there

there are a number of Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol who are being misidentified on social media. a lot of the confusion is being caused by right wing disinformation campaigns. https://mashable.com/article/capitol-attack-jason-tankersley-matthew-heimbach-misidentification/
for example: the guy in the yellow hoodie at the Capitol

using a second photo found online, the right claimed he was really antifa. most assumed the photo was of the same person when debunking the their lie.

however, those pics are actually 2 completely different people
the guy outed by antifa in 2018 as a white supremacist is a man by the name of Jason Tankersley.

when people discovered this, they also assumed the man in the yellow hoodie was Tankersley due to the confusion caused by the right wing disinfo.

he is not.
the Tankersley pic on the antifa site shows him with neo-nazi Matthew Heimbach

there's a guy standing next to the man in the yellow hoodie in a few photos

again, due to right wing disinfo, people assumed that must be Heimbach too!

there's no proof Heimbach was at the Capitol
numerous social media accounts have share these misidentifications

this screenshot is from the HomegrownTerrorists Instagram. the account had a 250k+ followers before it was removed.

the screenshot is wrong! that's not Tankersley and there's no proof that's Heimbach!
mainstream outlets like CBS News started to report these misidentifications too! why?

enter...XRVision! sounds familiar? they're the "facial recognition company" the Washington Times sourced to claim antifa was at the Capitol

i wrote a thread about them: https://twitter.com/MattBinder/status/1347059069606092805
XRVision made the Washington Times retract the antifa claim.

but, XRVision is now sharing their "expertise" with outlets like CBS News. i joke that they just draw "facial recognition boxes" on their images...

their "tech" just regurgitates the misinfo that's already out there!
pic #1: here's what Tankersley (the bearded guy in the pic with Heimbach posted on an antifa website in 2018) looks like now by the way

pic #2: the guy in the yellow hoodie at the Capitol...whose real identity we still don't know
