I'll not mourn Trump's suspension from Twitter, but I will say this is setting a very dangerous precedent that will come back and bite the left. They've just suspended the most powerful person on Earth. There's no topping that precedent.
They didn't remove Trump for dogwhistling to white nationalists - they'd have to suspend half the GOP if that were the case so this isn't about de platforming fascism. That's not why they did it.
They removed him for whatever reasons, but don't think this won't be turned on the left in due course.
(I'm not saying they were unjustified in doing it - I'm saying it sets a worrisome precedent)
If you're a socialist, you shouldn't be keen for a giant corporation to have just established the precedent it did. Even if the suspension of Trump himself is a good thing, the precedent is bad because like I say they didn't ban him for dogwhistling to white nationalists.
If that's why they did it they'd have done it after Charlottesville. But they didn't so that's not why they did it. I'm in favour of deplatforming fascism; that's not what they did here, it's not why they did it.
Don't get me wrong I also understand the whole slippery slope argument fallacy. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to censor him - I'm saying it's bad that *they* (heads of Twitter) have the power and choice to do it.
You can very much say that Trump individually being banned is good whilst the precedent it's setting with regards to the power tech corporations establish is not good.
