These are the entirely predictable consequences of allowing viral transmission to spread unchecked, which has essentially been federal policy throughout the pandemic.

I’m hoping to find some more technical science reporting on this in time for tonight’s @rivernewsroom #covid19hv roundup.
It seems from the limited coverage out now that the CDC doesn’t have a new variant sequenced: They are seeing increased transmission patterns, and inferring that there is one.
A bit like finding tracks from an animal in the snow, but not having an image of the animal itself.

For months, the Center for Public Integrity has been collecting and publishing these White House Coronavirus Task Force reports to states, because the task force hasn’t made them public.
