whenever I see tweets from media people saying stuff like “the gop needs to look at itself long and hard” and I always wonder “do you mean party leadership?” in which case, what? You want them to resign or something? Or do you mean GOP voters, who like Trump?
Or do you want voters to listen to your demands of introspection, which once again only one side is ever tasked with doing. But they should be introspective because they lost, right? Which means introspection only matters when you don’t hold political power.
Or should they be introspective because their fellow Trump voters orchestrated a riot on the Capitol? Well 99.9% of trump voters weren’t there, so that seems like a limited exercise. Oh, but they should be introspective because they supported Trump instead of Biden
And by extension those voters are just as guilty. If no one ever voted for trump, he’d never be in politics. And I, a media figure, told all of you this would get bad.Why didn’t you listen to me and vote for Biden? Maybe the party can tinker with its platform or perform an autopsy
Maybe the party can bar voters from choosing any nominee they want. Only republicans should do this, though. You have to kill some democracy to save it. And really only the GOP offers any threat to it. After all, republican voters already have so much power everywhere else.
