Watching video snippets of Wednesday's travesty, I can't seem to get these lyrics from Les Mis out of my head:

Have you asked of yourselves
What's the price you might pay?
Is it simply a game
For a rich young boy to play?
I mean, the protesters seemed totally unaware that there might be consequences for storming the Capitol -- like they were playing some sort of game, recreating some fantasy 1776 revolution.
It seems they didn't realize they lived at the most fortunate time, in the freest country in the world. They believed the Radio Revolutionaries and the lying politicians who told them it was 1776 redux.
For some strange reason, the Radio Revolutionaries forgot to show up to join them.
Now many will go to jail as they should. Some are dead. But those egging this revolution on, by lying and lying and lying about a stolen election they knew wasn't stolen, will likely face few consequences.
Btw, I don't want to minimize the actions of the wannabe revolutionaries. Some it seems planned to kill lawmakers if they got the chance. We are very fortunate it didn't turn out worse -- but it is infuriating there were any deaths at all. For what.
