1) A significant minority of Americans do not believe the election results are valid. And, many of them won’t be reasoned out of that view. Those responsible for encouraging these beliefs will have to answer before God, if no one else. But we have a real problem.

2) In taking violent actions, such at the Capitol, they are doing what they truly believe is their duty, trying to stop what they believe to be a terrible injustice. It’s important to understand, they really believe this, and in that context radical actions can be justified.

3) It‘s going to take us a long time to work our way out of this. And, for some of these folks, compromise and engagement won’t work. It must be attempted, but also the full extent of the law must be brought to bear.
