So, the more I see & learn about this week's events, the more I'm beginning to suspect that this WAS supposed to be TRump's coup.
- Several GOP members out there giving speeches to whip up emotions ahead of it.
- National Guard blocked from responding
- Tactical gear blocked (1/)

- Response teams elsewhere doing who knows what (heard various versions) despite foreknowledge of the planned event by federal agencies.
- Officers at the scene made a show of resistance before escorting the mob inside
- Off-duty officers & soldiers in the crowd (2/)

I think this was Trump & the GOPs last ditch effort to hold onto power. This was their coup attempt.
But, they didn't get the turnout they expected or hoped for; certainly not enough for a sustained occupation; & so now they are just looking to save their own asses (3/)

by sacrificing those of their "soldiers" that did show up.
Many of those in the mob at the Capitol are now being sought by the FBI (aided by the fact that almost none wore masks & took plenty of pictures of themselves to post online for easy identification ), & could face (4/)

serious charges & time in prison.
