Why I Was on Announced Hiatus-A Thread
(sorry-it's long)
This year was the first in I don’t know how long we didn't have a show going on in December. So when I took the last of my 2020 PTO over the holidays, I stayed of this damn bird app to actually enjoy Christmas & New Year/1

So, after taking a couple days to catch up at the office at the start of the week, I planned to come back on Wednesday, wish y'all Happy New Year & resume my snark output levels: Poke fun at the bullshit. Argue, rant, & rave about Theatre, Movies, TV, Music, Books, & Comics. /2
Then the Tangerine Tyrant tried to use his Misfit Mob of Mouth-Breathers and Camo-Cosplayers to overturn his electoral ouster. And it hit me and T like a gut punch. It took a few days to process it.
Here’s what I’ve come up with /3

Now, T & I are not super-patriotic people, at least not in the way Mango Mussolini’s minions would define it. We don’t fly a flag at the house. Apart from a couple US Soccer shirts, we don’t have any “rah-rah America” gear. /4
I’ve rarely stood for the anthem since my mid 20’s, because it always feels like it’s just America sucking its own dick. And that felling has only gotten worse with all the added spectacle to rile up the ‘Murica Mob post 9-11 /5
I've often had the same thought about those chest-pounding, in-your-face, ‘Murica people & the public-praying, in-your-face, religious folks of all types (and not just because there is so much crossover between the groups), which is: who are you trying to convince, me or you? /6
Maybe it’s because we’ve been lucky enough to visit other countries and curious enough to learn about other cultures, that we don’t get caught up in it. But that doesn’t mean we don’t love our country. Quite the contrary. /7
We believe whole heartedly in the what the potential of the country can be, and work to helping it reach that in all the ways we’re able.
We vote. We sign petitions. We donate to causes and campaigns we believe in.
I rant with excessive obscenities at pols and pundits on here. /8

Ok. So maybe that last one isn't a big help, but it *is* fun. /9
Besides we know that the laws this country is founded on, while in equitably applied, are a solid foundation on which we can complain about leaders, call them out, and fight to get better ones, who will apply the laws more equitably. /10
Sure watching 4 years of the Orange Oligarch tear down guardrails in an effort to sate his autocratic whims was painful and scary, but guardrails once removed are more easily replaced with better, stronger ones. /11
Wednesday was more like having an upholstered chair your great-great-great grandmother brought from the old country you never really use & just sits in your hallway. It gives you comfort to know it’s there and that you’ll be able to pass that piece of history to your kids. /12
Then you watch someone take a massive shit all over it.
You know no matter how many times you clean it; you'll never be able to get it all out. You can’t get rid of it, but you’ll never be able to look at again without seeing that steaming pile of feces in the middle of it. /13

So, I guess what I’m saying is, I wrote this long ass thread to say “Fuck those Shit Stains” to those Vanilla ISIS fucks, but give it excessive context /14
Anyway, I may get a #FF up I may not, I'm still kinda slammed at work. but I should be around more now
