Looking back at photos and videos I have of police presence outside of the Capitol during #BlackLivesMatter protests this summer.

It is inexplicably and unacceptably different from what we saw on Wednesday. Thread:
In June, USCP were lining the perimeter of the East Front. Dozens of additional police stood ready in riot gear near all points of entry. Multiple layers of fencing.
Even more officers in riot gear - and even more riot gear - out of plain sight.

You can clearly see MANY officers all over the Capitol. And big buses holding officers, shields and gear, parked on multiple areas on the plaza.

This was BEFORE any #BlackLivesMatter protestors were on Capitol grounds. But police were prepared.
