Aaron Henry burst onto the scene with his freshman NCAA tournament, playing well against Culver and Barrett. After a rather disappointing sophomore campaign, he is back.

IMO the MSU junior is still an interesting draft prospect. Let me show you why.

[A mini scouting 🧵]
Henry started the year in a shooting funk (3-19 3P), but regression to the has been setting in since the beginning of conference play (6-13 3P). Meanwhile he has been hitting his FTs at a high clip (85 FT%). Not a sniper, but a solid spacer.
Curiously, his pullup swagger came back too, which boosts my confidence in his jumper, even though he lacks a little range. Also shows some shot variability here, something that is largely missing with his threes. 44,8 2PJ FG% is more than decent!
IMO he only needs to be passable as a shooter as he provides value in so many other areas. Could imagine him as a secondary, tertiary creator. Always has been capable live dribble passer. Strong vision and lots of ability. Knows how to run the PnR on a solid level. 25 AST%!
Interesting onball defender. 210lbs with decent core strength and balance. This allows him to guard up a bit. Being only 6'6'' (wingspan ~6'10''?) should limit him to a three position defender tho. Still, he should be able to hold his own here with solid technique.
Like him even more as a team defender. Is good in the Vassell-type nail roamer role and makes stuff happen. Quick hands create steals and tie ups. Has crisp help rotations to cut off drives and protect the rim. Insane 8.4 STOCK%! Huge increase despite bigger role (20 ->26 USG%).
His dirty secret is his lane finishing. Only hits 54.5 FG. Sometimes lacks the burst to finish above the rim. Besides he has the Ben Simmons disease. Being a lefty jump shooter he tries most of his finishes with he right hand. Touch is okay but weird to prefer righty finishing.
Super rare lefty finish:
Lack of elevation can be seen here. Not the greatest leaper:
Despite the lack of slashing and his efficiency problems this year in a role that is clearly too large for him, I like him as a solid do it all wing who provides value in many facets. Hard to find 30 guys better than him this year.
