As for Trump's mob at the Capitol, let the law work without interference. They wanted insurrection and selfies, they can have prison sentences and mug shots.

It's very important to break the perception of impunity and protection from above that such people have. They may be fringe now, but they will grow if others see them go unpunished. This is a common phenomenon.
