TEXANS PRESSER THREAD:

Cal McNair opens with a statement.

Tough times...disappointing season...thanks Romeo...

Our culture has been repeatedly under question this season.
We are an org. committed to excellence.
We operate with integrity, character and a winning mentality...
Cal McNair: "We ask our fans to trust that we know what's right"
Cal McNair: "I understand Deshaun feels left out of the process...we had conversations before we decided on Caserio... I've reached out to Deshaun and I look forward to him getting back to me when he returns from this vacation"
Cal McNair: You want to know about Jack Easterby...he and Caserio had a working relationship, I asked his opinion on Caserio...
Caserio now speaking...excited, can't wait to get started.

Just before this McNair said despite all these Patriots guys, the Texans "do not want to be Patriots South"
THIS IS MY THOUGHTS HERE

Caserio seems like a nice guy and I'm sure he's qualified, but man, today's intro presser is not gonna be about him. Sorry, Nick.
Caserio:

Team above yourself, nothing more important than the team...that's the mindset.
John McClain with a great question: Your QB is unhappy, your star DE is unhappy. What are you gonna do about it?
Caserio: I have a lot of respect for Deshaun, looking forward for the opportunity to work with him.

McClain asks about Deshaun being traded.

Caserio says "He's our QB"
Cal McNair follows up here: In regards to 4 and 99, they're valued members of your team. What they want is totally in alignment with that we want.
Caserio asked about Easterby's Role:

Caserio starts by saying Easterby is a guy he's always leaned on.

Any personnel decisions will be made as a group, but that's my responsibility. Jack will have a role, but football decisions are my decisions.
Brian Smith coming in hot: All I see from fans is "Fire Easterby" and "Sell the team"...

Cal's Thoughts: We were 2-8 in 1-score games. We do have a commitment to win, so changes were needed.

Just last year we had a great playoff game vs Buffalo.

I wouldn't say we're far off
Cal McNair: We're going to build a wall, brick by brick. Put the mortar around it. Day by day, making great decisions. Knowing that we're not far off.

"It's a great day to be a Texan because (getting Nick Caserio) is a big break"
Nick Caserio is asked on how to improve on Texans culture: We're looking to the future, we're going to take inventory...talk to staff, then how we want to construct it. I wasn't here for (2020), our responsibility is to move forward.
Cal asked why he kept Jack Easterby, and why he's keeping him now:

Cal needed Easterby to step into (GM spot) and he took a lot of heat for it.

It's hard to run a team without a GM, a lot of them have administrative type pasts.

Jack did the job he was asked and will step back
. @KPRC2Vanessa asks what Jack Easterby brings to the table:

Cal: He's skilled in different areas. It won't be roster...

Nick: He invests his people, and serves them. His mindset has helped a lot of people.
Cal, talking about processes: "...We're also very poor in tackling..."

Yes, sir, you are correct.
