1/ In the summer of 2018 an agitated man walked into the Beakerhead offices I was working at. He asked for the bathroom. At this point I could see my coworkers were ready to call CPS. 2/ My friend and colleague @littledinyyc joined me as I asked him if he’d like us to walk him to the safe consumption site a few blocks away. He accepted our offer and we made small chat on the way. At no point did I feel unsafe and we shook hands as we parted.
3/ So yes, I would have supported a motion to explore reallocation of funds. And yes, I support the humane & just treatment of people. And yes, CPS weren’t needed. And yes, I know the discrimination & racism the man I helped faced. And yes, we need resources people can lean on.
