I'm pleased that progress to bring consistency to the use of EWS1 forms with @RICSnews is continuing. We've been working to reduce demand and increase supply so that homeowners can re-mortgage or sell their flats 1/4
On demand: Guidance in consolidated advice note 14 has been revised, bringing much needed clarity. No building without cladding will need a form. Buildings less than 6 stories will only need one where they have more than 25% cladding 2/4
On supply: we’re providing £700,000 to train more assessors meaning 2000 additional assessors will be qualified to carry out the EWS1 assessment within 6 months – up to 200 should be trained by the end of Jan 3/4
Along with @RICSnews we’re taking hundreds of thousands of flats out of scope of their EWS1 process, freeing owners and buyers to sell, move and re-mortgage. You can respond to the RICS consultation here: https://tinyurl.com/EWS1consult  4/4
