This history is unique to QMUL’s rent strike campaign. The East End Bengali community used the same tactics that we are using right now, in the same place as us.

We are mindful of this legacy.
2/3 It’s crucial that our strikers are aware of the history of rent striking, and how it has been used throughout history as a tactic by marginalised people.

Bengali squatters and their occupation of buildings in TH in the name of Black Radicalism in the ‘70s preceded us here!
@QMUL makes such a big deal of being in East London and being so inclusive. What’s inclusive about sending majority poc cleaners into isolating flats? Let’s turn their white liberal rhetoric of being so diverse on their heads and expose the extortionate landlords they really are!
