The Ganeriwala Family was a #Marwari family, connected with the financial, social & cultural history of Rajasthan. Their Firm that flourished in the 19th and 20th century was known as the Great Ganeriwala Firm.

Through the 19th & early 20th century, members of Ganeriwala family were financiers & money lenders in princely states, & served as treasurers for the royal families. Shobharam Birla, the grandfather of Raja Baldeo Das Birla, worked with the Ganeriwala firm.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was known to be a frequent visitor of the Ganeriwala haveli holding close ties with their family patriarch. Members of the Ganeriwala family have been credited for the construction of various Hindu temples across India and havelis in Rajasthan.

Shri Raghunathji Mandir in Nashik was donated by mother of Seth Ram Dutt Ganeriwala over a 120-acre land. Geeta Vatika in Gorkahpur (pic 1) was built on land donated by Seth Jaydayal Ganeriwala. The Ganeriwalas also built the famous Rangji Temple in Pushkar (pic 2) in 1850.

In the 1800s, Seth Puranmal Ganeriwala’s branch of the family separated from the rest to become treasurers and bankers of the Nizams of Hyderabad, namely Osman Ali Khan, the worlds richest man at a point.

This was not acceptable to the rest of the family who believed their family duties lied in serving Hindu ruler. However Seth Puranmal Ganeriwala stuck to his Hindu roots & built one of Hyderabad’s most famous Hindu heritage temples- Sitaram Bagh Temple, spread over 25 acres.
