Hii everyone- I’m sorry I made that post about crypto & then disappeared from twitter... i been doing research & have yet to find 1 wallet that meets all the needs of a SW. However I’ve decided I can share some info to get u started while I cont. searching for this elusive wallet
This is written by a SW for other SWers but clients are welcome to read along too.
To accept a bitcoin or crypto payment you need an “address” which is a long unique string of numbers and letters. When you send crypto you send to an address, when you receive crypto you receive to this address.
To get an address you need to create a wallet. There are many platforms to create a wallet. It is free to create a wallet. Wallets have different attributes and limitations and different companies require different levels of information for identity verification
Here are some platforms you can create a wallet on: Coinbase, Metamask, BRD, Exodus, Cashapp, Electrum etc
Each of these wallets has its limitations- personally I have opened several wallets and yes it’s confusing. i recommend keeping track of things in a text doc
Coinbase is one of the most mainstream and easy to use platforms- it allows payments from most top coins including bitcoin, ethereum, and you can transfer your crypto to cash in your bank account through them. Also- they take all your info, report to the IRS, & are ANTI-Sex Work
So while coinbase is the most convenient especially for newbies to the crypto world, I can’t recommend it for sexworkers. While I’m not sure how they track our activities, they’ve been reported to shut down workers accounts - so be careful if you choose to go w Coinbase
My favo wallet is Metamask- it connects to browser and has mobile app. It can hold Ethereum and any Eth based ERC20 token- which is a whole lot but does NOT include Bitcoin. It’s my fave bc they don’t ask for ANY personal info. You can open multiple to get multiple addresses
Personally I use cashapp for anonymous fiat payments so I haven’t submitted my info for verification to open a crypto wallet- but Cashapp is an easy to use option if you don’t mind sharing your ID verification w them- and you can cash out your crypto into your bank thru them
When receiving payment u can receive as BTC or ETH- but these are highly volitile coins, can lose or gain thousands in value by the day. To protect the value during transfer using a socalled “stablecoin” that is pegged to the US dollar or other less volitile asset is recommended
