Time for some #HyperaustralThirstpoasting.

Today, via a Google Image search, we visit the Chilean riverside city of Valdivia, capital of Los Rios region, northern Patagonia.
As a bonus, here’s the historic coastal town of Niebla located nearby.
I am going to become the Alex Forrest of...whatever this is!
Valdivia is mapped in the 1665 Atlas Major, although it’s spelled “Baldivia.” https://twitter.com/Blair_A_Nathan/status/1346635845378465798
The city is located at roughly 40 deg. south. Much of Chile resembles the corresponding parts of the western coast of North America. This part of Chile corresponds to, oh, far northern California or far southern Oregon

By happy coincidence, that would be...the state of Jefferson
Again, one of my reasons for Hyperaustral Thirstpoasting is to remind Americans that we can have a beautiful home too, just like countries that are (on paper) not quite as well off as we are.

It’s a question of will.
