I've seen lots of "takes" from & about evangelicals in the past 48 hours. There's the race take ("white evangelicals"), the politics take ("religious right"), the power take ("cozying up to Trump"), etc.

All of these, at bottom, are about BAD THEOLOGY.
Many evangelicals I know have been very poorly taught about the kingdom of God, about living "between the Advents" of Christ, about idolatry as the essence of all sin. These things are part of our tradition... but so many are ignorant of tradition. "No creed but the Bible" etc.
Evangelical discipleship tends to focus almost exclusively on "getting saved" and helping others get saved, with almost no emphasis on how to live as citizens of the City of God within in the City of Man, for the glory of Father, Son, & Spirit.
I've given most of my life and ministry to trying to remedy this, and I know many others who have as well. I'm saddened by how slow the progress is.

THEOLOGY MATTERS. When our churches fail to teach and disciple people well, the whole world suffers - & so does Christian witness.
