The stories they spread among themselves don't hold up to the slightest scrutiny. For example, I must have been like 12 years old. My dad and my uncles were having an intelligent (that's sarcasm right there) discussion about affirmative action. This was the story:
"So this guy I know is a supervisor at a factory. The government came down and demanded that the factory prove it was meeting it's affirmative action quota. The supervisor asked how many Black people they needed to have and the government worker said 12."
"The factory had 15 Black people working so the supervisor said in front of the government worker 'fire three of them then'" That was it. That's the tale they exchanged among themselves. Did they really believe it?
