pretty much every person ID'ed so far from the Capitol has been petty bourgeoisie
real estate agent, pool cleaning company CEO, that insurance company's general counsel, the private jet lady
importantly, that doesn't preclude working-class involvement. really, i see the presence of both proletarian and bourgeoisie fascists storming the capitol as a reminder that class is not enough to explain white nationalism.
or, to put it another way, i think fascist politics have the capacity to set the terms of what class means beyond the economic for people that believe in them.
regardless, my most important point is that anyone framing this as simply a proletarian uprising is being ahistorical not even 48 hours after the fact. do some research!
i'm gonna add to this thread here b/c i want to expand on some of these tweets that i wrote in a hurry this morning because i had to go call ted cruz a leech and a coward for work.
âpretty much everyone...â couldâve just been âa lot of peopleâŠâ without invoking some kind of quantitative implication i havenât properly evaluated. https://twitter.com/SatansJacuzzi/status/1347550706220281857
letâs add to this list based on what iâve read: elected representatives, a doctor, a marketing company CEO, and that West Point grad w/ the MBA whoâs a bizdev exec (whatever the fuck that is) https://twitter.com/SatansJacuzzi/status/1347552073068511234
also doesnât preclude white working-class involvement OR wider support. millions voted for trump; many could be primed to join white nationnalist, white supremacist, militia, alt-right, conspiracy groups already present in the maga movement https://twitter.com/SatansJacuzzi/status/1347552565676924932
our society is already stratified by class in material ways beyond just economics â e.g., race, gender, citizenship, queerness, ability, education. fascist politics have long been about pursuing the most violent kinds of U.S. law further. https://twitter.com/SatansJacuzzi/status/1347553800383582208
as i noted yesterday here, parts of the Nazi's legal hierarchies were inspired by racist ass U.S. laws. as trump and others have demonstrated, our current laws and government are ripe for executive interpretations and implementations that advance fascism. https://www.teenvogue.com/story/pro-trump-attack-on-us-capitol-fascism-coming-home
because this society is stratified by things like race, gender, and citizenship, we can point to evidence that there really are actually several working classes within the united states, separated by various legal, social, and other hierarchies.
finally, âahistoricalâ was too fancy of a way of saying theyâre wrong or lying. fanatical trump support has been manifesting as far-right extremism across economic classes for years. why do people play marx libs when it comes to white nationalists? https://twitter.com/SatansJacuzzi/status/1347556426043056131
january 6 was a display of strength. fascists breaking into congress, many of them prepared to kill people. you don't have to approve of the state to recognize that may pose a threat to others â or that it has for a very long time.
