These Instagram ads from @RadioShack bring me an immense amount of nerdy, nostalgic joy. But honestly we all know this won't bring them back.
So in order to distract myself from the news of the day for a few brief moments here's a thread on how I'd run marketing for RadioShack1/8

They need to find their audience and I think they have a strong niche audience ready for them in the Maker community. There are thousands of home hobbyists building replica movie props, retro electronics, and all sorts of cool things that need a brand like RadioShack. 2/8
Imagine the user generated content they could find from their community building really cool stuff from their products! There's sooo much potential there. They could also foster this community by providing tips and project recommendations with a series of YouTube videos OR... 3/8
They could seize the opportunity Sherwin Williams missed when they fired their TikTok celebrity paint mixer and create a TikTok account showing off all sorts of amazing and simple DIY home electronics projects. No doubt, there's a space for them there.

Even better, the newly reformed @RadioShack could partner with influencers in the Maker community to promote making and DIY creative electronics projects via social media. Seriously, how cool would it be to see a @RadioShack/ @donttrythis collaboration!? I'd pay to see that! 5/8
Once the pandemic ends @RadioShack could do pop up workshops at local comic-cons and creator-cons helping the community with their projects and setting up STEM workshops for kids. It would be a great way to build community without having a physical store front. 6/8
And if the time seems right to go back into having physical stores, make the stores retail locations/maker spaces that would hold events, support makers in their local communities...not just a place to buy batteries and capacitors, but a place to BUILD. 7/8
Okay, that was fun. I have a zillion other ideas. It fills my nerdy heart with joy to see RadioShack back. And I'd love to see them succeed. Going through these thoughts just now really makes me want to see some of these things happen! 8/8
