I put up this tweet yesterday and @MaajidNawaz threatened me with libel if I didn’t apologise and retract. I don’t understand libel laws, many people told me there was no libel in the tweet but, as a father of 4, I don’t want this hanging over me. So... https://twitter.com/eddiemarsan/status/1347132923842015233
I apologise @MaajidNawaz, I don’t think you are just a shock jock who promotes dangerous conspiracy theories. I’m sorry for any harm it may have caused you. I will, if I may bring up some of your recent tweets regarding your @LBC show and Trump’s attempt to overturn the election
On 1/1/ 21 you put up this tweet, which I think any reasonable person would consider to be about a conspiracy theory that the Chinese government hoodwinked the world into destroying their economies via lockdown.
You spread this theory, undermining lockdown when doctors, nurses and epidemiologists consider it vital in their fight to save lives. But you threaten me with libel because I called you a shock jock. Again I apologise, you win..
Yesterday, after the US senate was stormed by trump supporters, you put up this tweet. Now you may claim that you were just searching for the truth. Other people may think you were quick to spread a conspiracy theory without any proof. But once again I apologise
Now I’m a relatively successful actor and if I wanted to, I could probably afford to take you on in court but the thought of this hanging over my family’s head for the next couple of years feels me with dread. God knows what somebody with less means than me would do?
I suppose they’d have to shut up. I presume an exhausted NHS worker who objected to you doing a whole show on @LBC, undermining lockdown, wouldn’t dare take you on. Or a poor black kid who objected to you spreading the rumour that ANTIFA,not white supremacist attacked the senate
Anyway, as I said. I apologise @Maajid for calling you a shock jock who spreads conspiracy theories. It was wrong of me and I’m sorry for any pain I caused you.
