Mahadev Shiva acknowledged Nag Vasuki as his most dedicated devotee, and he resides in this temple is said to be carrying the burden of the world on his shoulders.
It is also belive that with out Darsannof Nag Vasuki the pilgrimage of Prayag remains incomplete.
