Everyone starts to claim it was the heat of the moment, caught up in it, distancing themselves from the damage and harms, the fear they created in the people who live in the area.
This is how the east was almost emptied by the military, by militias and volunteers. This is how the west was cleared. Farmers coming behind to fill the void created by war. Pretending they weren't part of it.

This is America.

And by America I mean the western hemisphere.
