I feel like we all need to get really good at understanding, engaging with, and deprogramming cult and cult-like beliefs and behaviour, and we need it yesterday, but we're all so fucking ground down and exhausted.

But it's only going to get worse.
Or do we accept that only some people - people with the skills to do so - can engage productively with those cult beliefs and behaviours? And That the rest of us need to follow Elie Wiesel's instruction and work to change not the outright hate, but the majority indifference?
But one thing I'm sure of - we can't keep on pretending that dunking on the most hateful online is helping anybody. More and more evidence is emerging that it's worse than useless - it's harmful. It not only spreads propaganda and conspiracies to a larger audience...
...but it entrenches and legitimises said conspiracies in the minds of those primed to believe them.

I know I'm a broken record here, but please - trans people and cis allies alike, please stop feuding with transphobes online. We need better than that.
