So I have some takeaways from the past couple days. I had a lot of hope for us, I had thought we could make a difference and really show our worth fighting against fascism (1/)
What instead happened was that on Harrisburg they shut down the Capitol and all sessions, and then we came to the realization that DC was basically a lost cause. By late afternoon I felt so alone because I was the last to realize that we just didn't have numbers (2/)
And I stayed off Twitter, so to be honest I saw very little if yesterday's discussion and thought Bry's post was a spreading sentiment. But we have fucking idiots in our bloc sympathizing with Nazis...I don't think yinz understand, these people were there to send a message (3/)
And they sent that message loud and clear. DC was a lost cause, because everyone there is on the same side. The cops and the NG aren't there to fight the mob, they're there to provide some stability, they let the people through, that's the worst part (4/)
And anyone who is breathing a sigh of relief at Trump conceding, I'm here to tell you that's not how this ends at all. Even if this wing of the right does just give up on holding position for 4 years, it's going to be constant pressure and we will get nothing accomplished (5/)
Think about this, the fascist wing of this nation was able to jumble together the most successful insurgency in the history, it stopped the certification of an election and put all the elected representatives into a state of hiding. They sent their message (6/)
Meanwhile I come back to us, who talk about revolution and changing things so much for the better, and I see that a day after a coup attempt, we are back to infighting about FUCKING EVERYTHING! And why? Because some of yinz have shown yourselves as Nazi sympathizers (7/)
These people are not anti Government, they were not fighting "The government". They were fighting against a Government led by anyone but Trump. They sent the message loud and clear that no matter who is de jure in power, that wing is going to loom over everything (8/)
Sure there were tussles with police, but at the end of the day, they all came to the realization that they're all on the same side. The police want that power just as the right wing does, just as the military under their still commander in chief does (9/)
Now, to address the people who pushed so vehemently to not get involved, I just ask: when the fuck do we get involved than? It's very clear now that the right wing doesn't need absolute numbers to win any conflict because they are the ones who actually show up and fight (10/)
And trust me, I'm not even throwing shade at anyone who didn't leave house and fight, I get everyone is beyond broke right now, but at some point we have to ask ourselves if we're willing to even fight at all. It's going to take a lot of people to win this (11/)
No, my angst right now is against the people who actively said not to get involved. This was not "the proud boys fight". They were not there to fight the police, they were there to send a message, and it was our turn to send a message too, but we didn't (12/)
Instead, a huge portion, way too many than I'm comfortable with, showed themselves as Nazi sympathizers. To those people, please just fuck off, I have no room for any of yinz in my life, I deal with enough of that at work and with people I thought were friends (13/)
So what's my takeaway? I'm not really sure. I felt alone for sure, and I feel like despite our constant words to the contrary, this movement is weakened greatly by how much we constantly fight each other. These people, these insurrectionary agents, they united (14/)
Basically, my takeaway is that we need to get our shit together, figure out exactly who we need to get out of the movement, and radicalize as many good people as possible, or else we're going to lose, and lose decisively (15/)
