A certain type of keyboard warrior likes to assume the worst of evangelicals in the abstract because of how some of them vote. Another type of keyboard warrior likes to pretend they speak for "real" evangelicals when they talk about their partisan political preferences. 1/
What is lost in all the self-righteous finger-wagging on one side and arrogant grandstanding on the other is that millions of believers don’t wake up every day obsessing about politics like those trying to score points and slam others on Twitter. 2/
These everyday Christians don’t really care how many followers the uncritical Trump groupie or ex-vangelical semi-pro lament artist has on social media. They are too busy trying to love God and love neighbor the best they know how. 3/
Each of us on Twitter only speak for ourselves. Our sweeping judgments say as much about us as they do about those we are judging. The countless stories of everyday faithfulness that never get mentioned on Twitter often matter the most for the kingdom. 4/
I know my opinion won't matter to most of the keyboard warriors. One group will dismiss me because I'm a conservative "white evangelical" (and thus bad) while the other will say I'm an elite squish influenced by cultural marxism (and thus bad). Whatever. 5/
I just want us to remember the countless believers who spend their days being faithful parents, sharing their faith, serving the needy, and making a difference in their sphere of influence. That has always been what matters most. And it always will be. 6/
