theory: there might be some exceptions to this but i think it’s true that largely, our success & fulfilment of outcomes is predicated on people’s response to us
eg you get opportunities because people see you as impressive/competent, people are nice to you because they feel respected/valued, etc.

actually i think those are the 2 main responses that matter - if anyone has anything else, i’d love to hear it!
and that’s why being able to understand other’s perceptions of you & as a result being able to change your own actions to modulate that is so powerful

also why i think mind reading is the ~ultimate superpower
but relating to more human-level sensibilities, i think someone can best act on this when they’re super perceptive & can read people well

you’re basically able to step into someone else’s psyche & understand how they process information
i think @tferriss is a really good example of this because he’s able to pick up on tiny things from interviewees & recognises their significance (eg this seinfeld episode: )
also, gok from say yes to the dress uk is really good at this too
it’s something im working on & dont really know how to get better at

i’ve improved slightly as i’ve gotten older & been able to get more information/context abt how the world functions but it’s still something very hard to deliberately practice in conversations
an interesting question someone shared with me was: what does this person need from me?

it feels like a bit of a start — being able to understand motivations of individuals entering a conversation & using that as a starting point
this also made me think about the different ways in which we present ourselves to different people

i don’t know what to take away from this but it feels like {{something}}
